May Day! (no emergency this time)
Numerous incremental updates, all of which lend a sense of (dare I say?) momentum.
from left to right: In the bathroom, the vanity is in place and the shower is all prepped for tile — ready for the plumber (coming Friday!) to install and connect the various fixtures & drains so the little river house has indoor plumbing - yay!
In the kitchen, I pulled the stove & dishwasher out of their dirty little caves, which revealed some really zorchy-looking 70’s vinyl flooring; and in the living room, the scar of the long-gone fireplace is re-insulated and almost ready for drywall.
What’s that striped thing in the foreground, you ask? It’s the big wicker couch that we found at the ReStore back in January, plus cushions wrapped (for now) in protective sheets. Here’s another view, below. Even in its current role as workshop/staging area, the living room is starting to look almost comfy.
Josh worked the skidsteer like it was a palette-knife, nudging dirt right up to the foundation, spreading the driveway mix out nice and smooth. You can see the new driveway with its maybe-too-small turnaround space in the last photo, taken today after a couple rainy days. *Sigh* — puddles still collect in the clay, it’s just a fact of life. Gonna need some fast-starting, deep-rooting ground covers ASAP. I got a couple pounds of white clover seed at the feed mill in Hugo and will mix that up with a bunch of grass and spread it, next time. What else should I add to the mix?
